How is the surgery performed?

Surgeons can conduct blepharoplasty under local or general anesthesia.

The surgeon follows the natural creases for the upper eyelids to make incisions, removing excess skin, muscle, and fat. Finally the surgeons close the incisions using medical sutures or surgical glue.

In the case of lower eyelids, the surgeon creates an incision just below the patient’s lashes, along the natural crease, or inside the lower eyelid. During the procedure, surgeons eliminate or reposition surplus skin, muscle, and fat. Subsequently, they close the incision using surgical glue or sutures.

Recovery & Results

Patients may experience initial swelling and bruising around the eyes, which they can manage with cold compresses and medications. Meanwhile activity restrictions include avoiding strenuous activities and heavy lifting to promote healing. Eye care involves using prescribed drops or ointments and avoiding rubbing the eyes. Eventually, the majority of patients can return to their regular activities within 1-2 weeks, although complete recovery may require more time.

Results include improved eyelid appearance, enhanced contours, and a more alert look, with outcomes typically lasting long-term, although individual experiences may vary. Regular follow-up with the surgeon ensures optimal healing and address any concerns.
